On Tuesday, December 28, Mark Dantonio got his 100th win after the Spartan Holiday Bowl victory.

What a comeback! His 100th win was not just any game. It was the Holiday Bowl game at San Diego County Credit Union Stadium against Washington State Thursday, December 28, 2017. After a questionable first quarter, they came back and ended up winning 42-17. This win means that the Spartans had victories in the double-digits for the fourth time in the past five years, sixth in the last eight.

Sophomore quarterback Brian Lewerke nearly broke a record with this game too. He finished this winning season with 3,352 yards of total offense which is only slightly behind Drew Stanton’s 3,415 yards in 2005. Felton Davis, Cody White, and LJ Scott also had standout games. It was an unbelievable game and Dantonio believed so as well.

“It wasn’t good enough to win nine games, they wanted to win 10,” Dantonio said. “They came here with a mindset, and sometimes you’ve got to go with that mindset. We needed to have a great bowl game.”

And a great game was had.

This is Mark Dantonio’s 11th season with the Michigan State Spartans. There have been good and bad years, like any football program. But this (10-3 record) season has the distinction of being the Spartans’ sixth 10-win season under Dantonio and eighth in Spartans history. You can call the 2017 season the year of the comeback. Especially coming off last year’s 3-9 season. It didn’t look good at the start, but our Spartans pulled through.

Here are some awesome highlights from that incredible Thursday game.

Thanks for those 11 years and 100 wins, Mark Dantonio! Go Green! Go White!
